What causes it?

DC jack problems are common wear and tear problem in all laptops. What happens is the jack is soldered on to the board inside of the laptop. Over time if you aren’t careful the jack becomes loose and disconnects from the board. When this happens power is no longer sent to the laptop and the laptop won’t turn on.

How do I know if I have a DC Jack Problem?

There are several things that can happen when you have a problem with your dc jack

  1. Power goes to the laptop and the laptop turns on but doesn’t charge
  2. Laptop charges but only when you fiddle with the charger cable
  3. The charging light doesn’t come on when plugged in
